WHAT EXACTLY IS PILATES?
Pilates is a low impact method of resistance training created by Joseph Pilates. With a combination of stretch and strength the main focus of Pilates is your core. And not just one part of it, the entire core. From the upper part which helps support our spine to the lower which supports our pelvic floor. A strong core is key to all types of movement. The classical Pilates method provides a wonderful system of exercises to help you achieve the strength you need to move at your optimal level and ideally as pain free as possible. Whether thats extreme athletic activities to just every day life.
WHAT KIND OF APPARATUS DO YOU USE FOR PILATES?
Studios can differ in what they have to offer as far as apparatus goes. Some is more contemporary and some is classical. I am a big fan of the classical apparatus but they all include some form ofÂ
Reformer
Cadillac
Barrels
Chairs
Mats with props (weights, circle rings)
WILL I HAVE TO PERFORM ADVANCED EXERCISES I SEE ON SOCIAL MEDIA?
Absolutely NOT. A lot of people can be intimated to start Pilates due to all of the extreme excersies they see professional instructors and enthusiasts performing. Don't get me wrong some of them are amazing and surely you want goals to aspire to, but that is what the work is truly about. Pilates is for everyone at any level. And trust me once you start you will be so happy you did. Your body will thank you too!
WHAT DO I WEAR TO PILATES?
Please arrive in something you are prepared to move around in. We will transition between exercises lying down on your back, seated, and standing. I would not recommend anything with zippers or other hardware as it could damage the apparatus.
IF I DECIDE TO PURCHASE A PACKAGE OF SESSIONS HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO USE THEM?
You have 3 months from the time of purchase to use your sessions.
